Transport Plans Consultation ends 30 March

Herts County Council is currently consulting on two transport plans which are relevant to Knebworth. The North Central (NCGTP) and South Central Growth Transport Plans cover North Herts, Welwyn Hatfield and the A1 and B197 corridors. South Central Growth & Transport Plan Consultation

The South Central Growth & Transport Plan (NCGTP) is a new transport strategy to help direct and plan transport improvements and investment in Stevenage and North Hertfordshire, developed in line with forecast development to 2031.

Proposals to improve movement along the B197 corridor are included in both North and South Centreal Transport Plans. Both are on consultation until 30 March 2020

B656 Closed for White Lining

Road Lining works are scheduled between 10 and 12 July on B656 Hitchin Road and London Road. The road from Burleigh Farm Track to Langley Lane will be closed between 8:00pm and 05:00am.

A1(M) junction 6 to junction 8 smart motorway

Highways England is currently developing the preliminary design for a smart motorway between A1(M) junctions 6 and 8.

This scheme will be "All Lane Running". This means that the hard shoulder will be converted into a permanent running lane for drivers to help reduce congestion. NHDC Parking Strategy Review

The Cabinet meeting on 29 January included a review of NHDC parking strategy, which was approved together with a strategic action plan. The strategy largely covers management of parking in town centres, however there is a section which outlines how NHDC proposes to manage commuter parking.
