Luton Airport Expansion Consultation Update

It is now more than six weeks into the statutory consultation to collect views on increasing the capacity of London Luton Airport by making best use of the existing runway.

Expanding London Luton Airport to handle up to 32 million passengers a year through phased development by 2039 would bring significant benefits that would be shared locally, regionally and nationally.

The proposals will bring impacts, for the environment and people who live and work nearby, and Luton Airport Ltd is committed to minimising and mitigating these. Measures to tackle them, including for noise, climate change, air quality and transport are set out in the consultation.

There have already been 29 well-attended public events across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. So far, over 3,000 people have attended these events in order to better understand the proposals and engage with the project team to clarify points and address any questions raised.

More events are planned, with the last one taking place on Saturday 7 December.

The consultation period itself concludes on Monday 16 December.

If you have not yet been to one of the drop-in consultation events, you will find a visit informative. For a full list of remaining locations and further details about the proposals, please go to futureluton.llal.org.uk
