Station Pub Survey

In a village wide survey the Parish Council asked the question

Should Knebworth Parish Council borrow funds to purchase the Station Pub as a Public House and Village Asset?

There were 560 responses, with 79% supporting the Parish Council borrowing funds to bid for the Station Pub.

As a result of the survey and a business report provided to the Council at its meeting on 12 June 2019, it resolved to apply to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government for permission to borrow £500,000 over the borrowing term of 35 years for the purpose of purchasing and re-opening the Station Hotel Public House, Park Lane, Knebworth. It is not intended to increase the council tax precept for the purpose of the loan repayments. These will be funded through rental income from an appointed Lessee on terms, and at sums, set out in the detailed and costed Business Report.
