Network Rail Tree Work

Posted: Mon, 21 May 2018 07:50 by Claire Graham

Network Rail is undertaking vegetation management and fencing work on the East Coast Main line ahead of the increase in services provided by Thameslink.

Work in the Hadley Wood area raised concerns about the amount of vegetation which was removed. In response Network Rail has reviewed its original specification, so that land is cleared of all trees up to 6.5metres from the edge of the track. Beyond this point on level ground and embankments trees and vegetation will be cut back at a 45 degree angle to the boundary. e.g. on level ground at a point 9.5 metres from the track edge, trees over 3metres tall will be removed.

Part of the railway through the village is on an embankment at the rear of Pondcroft Road (approx. 13.5m from track to boundary) and Gun Lane (approx. 8m to boundary). The edge of the track to the top of the embankment varies from approx. 1 to 6 metres. (see attached document)

Network Rail will be working on the track in Knebworth between the following dates and times:

21 May 2018 to 8 November 2018 between the hours of 7.30am and 6.00pm.

There may be some work at night when no trains are running for safety reasons.
