Traffic Calming Watton Road

Ringway has identified the problem with Watton Road Traffic Calming as a CAT2 issue and an order has been raised to replace the bollards on the islands. The works are scheduled for the 16/17 financial year, however a date has not been programmed yet.

Secondary School Allocations

More than 95 per cent of Hertfordshire children have been allocated a place at one of their preferred secondary or upper schools.

Despite a slight increase in the number of applications compared to last year, more children have been allocated a place at one of their ranked schools.

Library Update

The Knebworth Parish Council report in the March edition, page 15, reported that Taryn Pearson from Herts. County Council said that "a temporary library will be stationed in St. Martin's Church car park, while the new surgery/library is being built."

County Council urges government to combat flooding


A senior politician from Hertfordshire County Council has written to Government Ministers urging them to take action and help tackle flooding in the county.

Traffic survey

Hertfordshire County Council, after receiving three petitions to implement speed restrictions on Stockens Green, Pondcroft Road and Milestone Road, undertook a week long Speed and Volume survey at five locations in Knebworth.

The results from the survey are as follows:

Pondcroft Road (2 locations)
- 85%ile speeds from 28-32mph
- mean speeds 23-25mph (ranges over 7 days)

The rainfall over the last month has left the ground saturated which has resulted in areas of standing water. If you are aware of blocked gullies in the Parish please take a photograph and send it together with its location to the clerk.
